6 Ways Overactive Brains Can Go to Sleep
August 3, 2019

Lack of sleep can be compromising your productivity at work. If you’re tired and in bed but can’t seem to get your overactive brain to turn off, then try one of six proven ways to get you the nine hours of sleep you need.
Stop the Nightcaps
A lot of people believe drinking alcohol can help them sleep better at night. But you’re actually forcing your liver to work harder than usual because of the toxins in your system. That uses up resources for your brain, so you wake up struggling the next day.
Don’t Watch TV Before Bed
Watching TV or browsing through Facebook isn’t going to help you sleep at night. Your pineal gland releases melatonin into your system to help you sleep. Darkness triggers the process, but if you browse through your Facebook wall or watch TV in the dark, that that’s going to confuse your brain. Stop watching TV an hour before you go to bed.
Ditch the Snack
Eating a late-night snack can stimulate your brain, keeping you awake. If you want to take advantage of a long and good night’s sleep, then stop eating any midnight snacks.
Get Some Exercise
Physical exercise can provide you with a handy outlet for your stress. If you’re anxious, angry, or worried, going to the gym and getting in a workout can release the tension from your body. That’s going to help you sleep better at night. If you’re having a tough time mustering the motivation to go, it may be time to talk to a lifestyle coach. With help from a coach, you can get regular exercise, stay fit, and relieve your stress.
Pamper Yourself
A long soak in the tub or a relaxing massage can help you get ready for bed. Schedule a session at your favorite spa. Take an extra hour or two a day to pamper yourself. This will do a lot to improve the quality of your sleep.
Stress could be keeping you awake. Talk to a health coach to find out how you can develop better habits in dealing with and managing stress. The lessons you’ll learn from an excellent coach will turn your life around. Take charge of your life. Find a lifestyle coach at Hundred Life Design.
